In conjunction with Skiing Is Believing (SIB), Nordic Racers will have access to the Flex Room at WOP all day on March 1st. Come and join fellow club members for some fun events. Bring a potluck lunch item to share!

Volunteer workshop to help volunteers prepare for the Invictus Games or for one of our scheduled Skiing Is Believing events. This training is required for all volunteers. Session will be held at Whistler Olympic Park:

We have two volunteer workshops arranged this winter to help volunteers prepare for the Invictus Games or for one of our scheduled Skiing Is Believing events. This training is required for all volunteers. These are the dates (all sessions at Whistler Olympic Park):
Saturday, December 14 – Whistler Adaptive Sports Program (WASP) Volunteer Training Workshop
Saturday, January 11 – Nordic Racers (NRS) Volunteer Training Workshop on snow session. There will also be a two hour online component for this training on Thursday evening January 9th.
You only need to take one of these workshops to qualify as a volunteer. If you have attended one of these training events in previous years (either from Nordic Racers or Whistler Adaptive Sports Program) you do not need to attend these workshops again unless you wish to refresh your skills.

The annual Silverstar trip runs Nov 29-Dec 2.
Accommodation includes tickets to the Saturday night banquet featuring dinner and dancing!
Note: Registration will open October 15th at 8pm and close November 23rd midnight.
Tickets for the dinner/dance can be purchased separately, but must be purchased before Nov 15.

When: 9:30am every Saturday from the end of Sept until the snow falls!
Where: Meet Location: West Parking Lot B, NW Marine Drive (this is the west-most parking lot before the hill, just west of Parking Lot A)

Note: The first Dryland Training for Fall 2023 will be at Spanish Banks, 9:30am Saturday Sept 28. It will then alternate between Spanish Banks and Capilano Dam.
What: Bring food to share and bring your skis to wax and waxing tools if you have some.
When: Directly following dryland training on Saturday, Nov 16 (approx 11:45am).
Where: West Vancouver (12 min drive from Cleveland Dam). Email communications@nordicracers.ca to confirm attendance and get the exact location.
Details: Earn your calories at Dryland, then join us for a potluck food lunch and ski waxing party. We will set up benches for ski waxing. There will be some wax and waxing tools available, but bring your own if you have them. Note that this is not a clinic but experienced skiers will be there and happy to share their knowledge with those just learning to wax their own skis.

Summer Hike - Saturday September 14
What: Help get yourself in shape for the upcoming Dryland Training with a fun hike up St Mark's Summit
When: 9am, Saturday September 14
Where: Meet outside the new (upper) lodge at Cypress Ski Hill base
Details: Bring a backpack with necessary hiking supplies (food, water, sunscreen, hat, emergency clothing, first aid, etc), wear comfortable hiking footwear, and enjoy a fun day on our North Shore mountains with fellow Nordic Skiers. Summer Picnic - Wednesday July 24
What: Summer get together to reconnect!
When: 6pm, Wednesday July 24
Where: Location - 4445 NW Marine Drive, Locarno Beach Park
Details: Bring your own food to BBQ, salads or desserts to share, drinks, chairs and smiles and join us for a summer evening get-together. A good time to reconnect with fellow skiers and to start thinking about the upcoming season. Friends and wannabe-Nordic Racers welcome!
We would love to have some musicians to lead some songs, so if you have a talent for an instrument and can bring it that would be great!
Join us for an annual review of the season including the accounting details.

Schedule:
Morning - Free time for skiing, or meet at the WOP flex room at 9:30 for a group ski

1 PM - Obstacle course event
Afternoon - Free time for skiing
