The NR Race Team competes at a higher level in the sport of cross country skiing. Our mission is to promote cross country ski racing and to become one the premiere race teams in British Columbia and even Western Canada and USA. The NR Race Team is the exclusive Vancouver area race team dedicated to the Para-Nordic, senior and master level races for men and women, although juniors are welcome. If you aspire to top level competition, provincial, national, or even international rankings, want to be the best athlete you can be, train with the best skiers in the area, want to travel to some cool places to race and have a group to do it with, then this is the place for you. Race formats will range anywhere from 1.4 km classic or skate sprints to 50 km distance races or loppets. This team will be well supported.
In 2010, the Nordic Racers Cross-Country Ski Club had five members competing at the Vancouver Paralympic Winter Games – more than double any other club in the country. We’ve now expanded our focus to not only help skiers with physical and sensory disabilities get out on the trails, but also to pass on what we’ve learned to others interested in working with adaptive skiers.
The club is a very friendly community of skiers from all walks of life. We organize social activities such as potlucks, dinners, summer training, trips, and offer a variety of lesson programs to members. There is a place for you here, regardless of your level of ability, whether you are an expert or have never put on a pair of skis. So join up and make some great friends!
